Founded in San Diego, California (U.S.A.) in 1980 Mail Boxes Etc. (“MBE”) has evolved over time into one of the world’s largest international networks of franchised entrepreneurs operating retail-based shipping, logistics, printing, marketing and communications solutions to business and private customers.

Mail Boxes Etc. (“MBE”) was founded in San Diego, California (U.S.A.)

1993

A family-owned Italian holding company started the Mail Boxes Etc. Master Licensee for Italy and then subsequently Spain and Germany

2009

In 2009 MBE Worldwide S.p.A., acquired the worldwide network of MBE Service Centers (except in the USA and Canada)

Our Milestones

In 2001

UPS Inc. acquired Mail Boxes Etc., and in 2003 started rebranding the MBE Network in both the USA and Canada into “The UPS Store”.

In 2009

MBE Worldwide S.p.A. bought the worldwide network of MBE service retails Centers (except Centers in North America). By this time, a family-owned Italian holding company based in Milan – Italy, which started business in 1993 as the Mail Boxes Etc. Master Licensee for Italy and then subsequently Spain and Germany.

In 2017

MBE Worldwide purchased PostNet International Franchise and AlphaGraphics, two US-based companies, to extend its service center network in the United States, Canada, South Africa, and other countries

In 2017

MBE Worldwide also became the majority owner of logistics market place Spedingo.

Since 2018

MBE Worldwide began strategically acquiring majority ownership in operating companies of successful, existing MBE network franchisees. This approach has grown into an increasing internal network of Directly Operated Stores (“DOS”), beginning in Italy, Spain, and the USA. Such investments in experienced MBE entrepreneurs demonstrate the commitment and ability of MBE to build on and further grow its know-how, skills and presence for the benefit of the entire MBE network.

In 2020

MBE Worldwide announced a definitive agreement with funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. to acquire up to a 40% ownership interest in MBE via a phased €120 ($132) million reserved capital increase in order to support additional long-term growth. Current MBE shareholders, the Fiorelli Family, will continue to own the majority of the business.

In 2021

MBE Worldwide expand its global footprint with the acquisition of Pack & Send, a leading brand in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom in the shipping and logistics industry.

MBE Worldwide also concludes the acquisition of Multicopy, a leading player in the Netherlands for Print & Marketing solutions

Both acquisitions allow the Group to increase its global footprint and presence.
